Who we are
Tali Quokka is a small handmade business run by a sole trader, Nataliia Soloviova, trading as “Tali Quokka”. We are responsible (the “controller”) for the personal information described in this policy.

The information we collect
- Pre-order requests: your name, email address, delivery address, town and postcode, any notes you add, the items you asked for and the request reference and date.
- Emails with us: anything you send us, such as questions, replies to our offers, or photos of a problem with an item.
- Payment records: if you accept an offer and pay, a record that you paid and the details needed to match the payment to your order. You pay by PayPal, bank transfer or a payment link; we do not collect card details on this website.
- Newsletter (optional, separate): if you choose to subscribe, your email address and the details MailerLite records about your sign-up and our emails, such as when you subscribed and whether an email was opened.
- Security information: when you send a pre-order request, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person rather than a bot, using technical information about your browser and device. We also keep a scrambled (“hashed”) version of your IP address to stop repeated spam attempts; it is not stored with your order and is deleted automatically after about two days.
- Website visits: like any website, our hosting provider Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and protect the site. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google also receives your IP address and browser information when you visit.
How and why we use it
- To handle your pre-order request and any order — reviewing the request, sending you an offer, taking payment, making and delivering your items, and handling cancellations, returns or problems. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing our contract with you.
- To keep business records for tax and accounting. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To protect the website and our customers from spam, bots and misuse, and to deal with any disputes. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable shop.
- To send our newsletter, only if you subscribed. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by emailing us.
Subscribing to the newsletter is completely separate from placing a pre-order request and is never required to order. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
We only share what is needed, with these service providers acting on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, order processing and storage (Cloudflare Workers and D1), and spam protection (Turnstile).
- Resend — sends the automatic emails about your pre-order request.
- Google — our order email inbox (Gmail), where requests and your emails to us are kept, and Google Fonts on the website.
- MailerLite — our newsletter, only if you subscribe.
- Payment providers — PayPal, our bank or the payment link provider we tell you about in our offer, when you pay.
- Delivery companies — your name and delivery address, so they can deliver your order.
We may also share information where the law requires it, or with professional advisers where needed. We never sell your personal information.
If you follow a link to our Instagram, Instagram's own privacy policy applies there.
International transfers
Some of our providers process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law allows, such as UK “adequacy” regulations (including the UK–US data bridge where a provider is certified) or approved contract terms (the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum).
How long we keep it
- Orders and business records: for as long as reasonably necessary to meet our tax, accounting and other legal obligations, and to deal with any questions, claims or disputes.
- Pre-order requests that don't go ahead: only as long as reasonably necessary to deal with any follow-up questions, and then we delete them.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, or earlier if it is no longer needed, subject to data protection requirements.
- Spam-protection data (hashed IP address): deleted automatically after about two days.
- Email delivery logs held by our email providers are kept for limited periods under their own settings.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and this website doesn't store anything in your browser to track you. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology to keep the site secure and tell people apart from bots, including during the Turnstile check. Because these are strictly necessary, they don't need your consent.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
- ask us to transfer information you gave us to you or to another organisation, where this applies;
- withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it (for example, the newsletter).
Some rights depend on the circumstances — for example, we may need to keep order records for legal reasons. To use any of these rights, email orders.taliquokka@gmail.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

1. About us

We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on our prices.
2. These terms
These terms apply when you send us a pre-order request and when you buy from us as a consumer. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy. We only sell and deliver within the United Kingdom.
3. Our products
Everything we sell is handmade, so each piece is slightly unique and may differ a little from the photos — in shape, stitching or colour (screens also show colours differently). Items shown with flowers, vases, plants, baskets or other props are styled for the photo; those props are not included.
4. How ordering works
- Pre-order request. When you send the checkout form, you are sending us a pre-order request. There is no online payment on this website, you are not asked to pay, and you are under no obligation to buy. Sending a request does not mean we have accepted it. We'll email you a copy with a reference number.
- Our review. We check whether we can make the item(s). We may decline a request, for example if we can't make an item — if so, we'll let you know.
- Our offer. If we can go ahead, we email you an offer setting out the items, the price of each, the delivery method and delivery charge, the total price, the estimated making time, how to pay, and information about your cancellation rights.
- Acceptance and payment. You accept our offer by paying the total within 48 hours of our offer email. The contract between us is formed when you make that payment.
- If you don't pay. If we don't receive payment within 48 hours, the offer lapses and the pre-order request may be cancelled. Nothing is owed.
You can withdraw a pre-order request at any time before you pay, without giving a reason, by emailing us.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling (£). The prices on the website are for the items only; the delivery charge depends on the item(s) and is set out in our offer before you pay. If a price on the website is wrong, we'll tell you before or in our offer, and the price in our offer is the one that applies.
After you accept an offer, you can pay by PayPal, bank transfer or a payment link, as set out in the offer.
6. Making time and delivery
Because every item is handmade and different pieces take different amounts of time, there is no fixed making time. Our offer gives an estimated making time and delivery estimate for your order. If we expect a delay, we'll let you know as soon as possible.
We deliver within the UK only, using the delivery method set out in our offer. Your item is our responsibility until it is delivered to you. If we don't deliver within the time agreed with you (or, if no time was agreed, within 30 days of the contract), you may have rights under consumer law, including in some circumstances the right to treat the contract as at an end.
7. Cancelling
7.1 Before we start making your item. If you have paid but we haven't started making your item yet, you can cancel by emailing us and we'll refund everything you paid, within 14 days of you telling us.
7.2 Your legal right to cancel (standard items). For standard items — including items made to order from our usual designs — you have a legal right to cancel the contract without giving any reason. The cancellation period starts when the contract is formed and ends 14 days after the day you (or someone you name, other than the delivery company) receive the item(s). If an order is delivered in several parts, it ends 14 days after you receive the last one.
To cancel, tell us clearly before the cancellation period ends — email orders.taliquokka@gmail.com. You can use the model cancellation form below, but you don't have to.
If you cancel after receiving the item(s), please send them back to us within 14 days of telling us you're cancelling. For a change-of-mind cancellation, you pay the cost of returning the item(s).
We'll refund the price of the item(s) and the standard delivery charge you paid, using the same payment method unless we agree otherwise. We'll make the refund within 14 days of receiving the item(s) back, or of you giving us evidence that you've sent them back, whichever is sooner. If you haven't received the item(s) yet, we'll refund within 14 days of you telling us you're cancelling. We may reduce the refund to reflect any reduction in value caused by handling the item(s) more than was needed to check their nature, characteristics and how they work.
7.3 Custom and personalised items. An item is only treated as custom or personalised where we have specifically agreed that with you in writing — for example, an item made to your own specification or clearly personalised for you. Our offer will say so if this applies. The legal right to cancel in 7.2 does not apply to items made to your specifications or clearly personalised. Your rights for faulty or incorrect items (section 8) still apply.
7.4 If we have to cancel. If we can't make or deliver an item after you've paid, we'll tell you and refund everything you paid for it.
8. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
We are required by law to supply items that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered, please email orders.taliquokka@gmail.com and tell us what's wrong. Photos can help us understand the problem, but they are not required to use your rights.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, for example:
- within 30 days of delivery, you can reject a faulty item and get a full refund;
- after that, you can ask for a repair or replacement, and if that isn't possible or doesn't fix the problem, a price reduction or refund.
For faulty, damaged or incorrect items, we'll cover the reasonable cost of returning them. This is a summary of your key legal rights; nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. For detailed information, visit Citizens Advice.
9. Our responsibility to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. We only supply products for domestic and private use. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breach of your legal rights in relation to the products.
10. Newsletter
Our newsletter is optional and completely separate from ordering. You never need to subscribe to place a pre-order request or buy from us.
11. Your personal information
We use your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live in Scotland, you can bring legal proceedings in the Scottish courts. If you live in England and Wales, you can bring proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts; if you live in Northern Ireland, in either the Scottish or the Northern Irish courts. If you have a concern, please contact us first — we'll do our best to sort it out.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are the ones on the website when you accept our offer.
